Meghalaya: UDP- HSPDP alliance to announce candidates for LS Polls in a week

The United Democratic Party (UDP) in Meghalaya is in the process of finalizing its candidates for the Lok Sabha elections next year in consultation with its alliance partner, Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), Chairperson of Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) and UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh said.
The names of the candidates will be announced in a week, Lyngdoh said.
It may be mentioned here that UDP and HSPDP have reconstituted the RDA to prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In response to a question on whether the party would file women candidates, Lyngdoh said, “It is not mandatory for us to file women candidates, but we are open to consider any female candidates who are interested to contest.”
When asked if VPP would pose a threat to UDP in the upcoming elections, he said, “UDP will fight on its own.”
The National People’s Party (NPP) has already announced the names of its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
NPP announced the name of 4-time MLA and current health minister of the state, Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh as its candidate from the prestigious Shillong seat and sitting Lok Sabha MP from Tura, Agatha K Sangma for another term as MP from Tura.
