On the issue of crimes against children the Chief Minister said that the government has been very strict in this regard, specially in the matter of child marriages. The amount of crimes which stood at 5,282 in 2021 decreased to 4,000 in 2022.
Addressing the menace of human-trafficking in the state, the CM stated that although the amount of cases decreased from 203 in 2021 to 140 in 2022, it remains an ever-present threat.
Murder cases have decreased from 1,192 in 2021 to 1,072 in 2022.
He added that the number of violent crimes has fallen by 47 per cent and theft recovery has increased from 24 percent in 2021 to 54 per cent in 2022.

The CM said that data for environment-related offences, like felling of trees, is not available for 2021 but in 2020 the amount was 125 which decreased to 77 in 2022.
Conviction rates rose to 6 per cent in 2021 to 14 per cent in 2022 and this year the amount stands at 16 percent. He added that despite the gradual rise Assam has a long way to go to match the national conviction rate of nearly 50 percent.
Acts of terror claimed 12 civilian lives in 2021, the number decreased to 2 in 2022, which marks the decline of militancy in Assam, Sarma said. He added that the number stood at 0 in the present year. No security personnel were killed in the state in 2022.
The CM expressed his pleasure at the decline in crime rates, pointing out the fact that it had been increasing for the last 10 years.
