3 labourers abducted from Cachar rescued in Dima Hasao

The miscreants who were involved in the abduction were cadres of Zeliangrong United Front, police said.

Police on Monday morning rescued the three labourers who were allegedly abducted from a stone quarry in Cachar on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters in Cachar, IGP Prashanta Kumar Bhuyan said that the labourers have been rescued from inside a dense forest. He said that special combing operations were launched in and around the Daoband area, under the jurisdiction of Mahur Police Station by Cachar and Dima Hasao police teams along with Assam Rifles. As a result of the operations the three labourers were rescued. They were found to be in good health. They were recovered from Lodi Kuki area near Digunchara grant on the bank of Chiri river.
The perpetrators managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness and difficult hilly terrain. The miscreants who were involved in the abduction were cadres of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF), a new outfit comprising of Zeme and Rongrai Naga Community, police said.
