The ZPM leadership has made it crystal clear that it will not forge any post-poll alliance with any party,
All set to form the next government in Mizoram on its own, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) will stake claim tomorrow for forming the government. All the newly elected ZPM MLAs have been called to Aizawl, where they will have a formal round of meeting soon after which the MLAs led by party chief Lalduhoma would meet Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati to stake claim to form the government.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, ZPM Vice President Dr Kenneth Changliana said, “All our MLAs have been called to Aizwal. Tomorrow there will be a meeting at ZPM office. We will not need any support and will form government on our own. We will stake claim tomorrow after all the elected MLAs come here together in Aizawl. The swearing in ceremony will be soon after the Governor asks us to form the government.”
Although the final results are still awaited, the ZPM leadership has made it crystal clear that it will not forge any post-poll alliance with any party, especially when it comes to the national players like the BJP or the Congress.
Changliana said, “We are leading in 24. We will form it (government). We expected it. But until and unless the final results are out, we cannot say that. We expect 25-30 (seats). Yes, we will be forming the government on our own. No, we will not need it (support of other parties).”
Asked if ZPM would consider unconditional support of the BJP or the Congress, Changliana said, “We have not yet considered this yet. We think that we will be forming the government on our own, that is sure. We will not make alliance with any party because we will be making our own government. But in the central it is BJP’s ruling, so we will work together not as a party as a government.”
