“Liquor-Free Town” campaign kicks off in Kangpokpi, alcohol worth Rs 1.37 L seized

In a bid to make Kangpokpi an alcohol free town, the Anti-Drug Cell of Kangpokpi Police and Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship (KTCF) jointly launched the “Liquor-Free Kangpokpi Town” campaign this morning.
Inspector H. Kipgen, OC Kangpokpi Police said the police along with the church bodies will take stern measures to curb the menace that has ruined lives of many.
He also said that continuous liquor drives will be conducted in collaboration with the local civil and church bodies to make Kangpokpi completely liquor free.
KTCF Chairman, Reverend K. Hangshing appreciated the commitment of the OC Kangpokpi and the support of SP Kangpokpi in the initiative to make Kangpokpi town a liquor-free town.
He also prayed for the success of the campaign and urged the denizens of the town and all concerned to support the initiative.
During the campaign, around 247 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth approximately Rs. 1, 37,500 was seized by the Anti-Drug Cell Kangpokpi Police, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship, and the Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization. The seized liquor was destroyed at downtown I.T. Road Bazar, Kangpokpi.
The Anti-Drug Cell of Kangpokpi Police and the Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship had on several occasions made a public announcement notifying that the “Liquor-Free Kangpokpi Town” campaign will begin on December 1 and serve strict ultimatum to all wine vendors in the town to switch their liquor business to other healthier livelihood business on or before December 1.
