While many considered the meeting between TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Debbarma and AK Mishra, the Ministry of Home Affairs advisor on Northeast affairs as the final round of negotiations before signing a deal with the Union Home Minister in next meeting, Pradyot Debbarma said that he do not believe in finals or semi-finals anymore.

Speaking exclusively Northeast Live, TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Debbarma said, “We can win all the matches and lose in the finals, so I do not believe in finals or semi-finals anymore.”

Talking about the closed door meeting, Debbarma said that the demands of the TIPRA Motha has not been diluted and that nothing has been demanded which is intended for personal gains.

“Indigenous people of Tripura have suffered a lot. We are not asking for any personal position. We only want a constitutional solution on demand for greater Tipraland from the Government of India. If the Government of India want to settle it, it can, but if it chooses not to resolve the issue, we will continue agitating,” said Pradyot Debbarma.

When asked if people are losing patience and when they could expect a solution, the founder of TIPRA Motha said, ” If people lose their patience, the Government of India has to handle. Since we are all Indian citizens, the Government of India has to treat us equally. It should treat our community equally.”

“The indeginious people of Tripura have sacrificed a lot and are now want to look ahead. If the Government of India look down upon us and do not take us seriously, then it will have to face a lot of problem in coming days. So, I urged the Centre to use their wisdom, knowledge and bring a permanent solution to the genuine demands of the indeginious people of the state,” said Pradyot Debbarma.
