Interlocutor AK Mishra meets Tripura CM ahead of talks with TIPRA Motha

CM Manik Saha informed Northeast Live that he has requested AK Mishra to hold talks with different tribal bodies for a better assessment of their issues
Amid intense speculations that there may be a solution to the demand constitutional safeguard for the tribal people in Tripura, MHA Northeast Adviser and interlocutor for talks with TIPRA Motha, AK Mishra met Tripura CM Manik Saha last night.
The meeting was held ahead of Mishra’s crucial round of dialogues with the TIPRA Motha today.
Multiple issues focussing on the development of tribal areas in the state topped the agenda of the closed door meeting.
Although CM Saha did not specify on whether the TIPRA Motha’s demand for maximum autonomy was discussed, but said that he suggested Mishra to hold talks with the tribal bodies.
Sharing details with Northeast Live about his meeting with the interlocutor, Manik Saha said, “MHA NE adviser AK Mishra met me. Detailed discussions were held pertaining to the development of the tribes in the state. I also brought other issues to his notice. Whatever developent is being done, right from budget allocation to construction of roads, schools colleges, by our govt in tribal areas were also apprised to him (AK Mishra).
I also made a request to him to hold talks with tribal bodies as well tribal cells of different political cells and also tribal students organisations. If this is done, he will have a better idea of what issues they are facing. I want that he comes to know what the problems really are, from my side I have raised the issues with him.”
CM Saha informed that AK Mishra has agreed to hold talks with the different stakeholders who represent the tribal society.
Manik Saha said, “After my request, he said that he would talk to the concerned stakeholders, he might have spoken before also but since I have requested, he said that he will speak to them again.
Since he has been sent by the MHA, I hope that everyone in Tripura will stay united and if there are any differences, through talks we will resolve them.”
