Manipur: Two PREPAK (Pro) held with arms, ammunition

Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police apprehended two cadres of the rebel group, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive), PREPAK-Pro, with arms and ammunition in Manipur’s Imphal West district, official said on Saturday.
The nabbed cadres were identified as Laishram Prem (23) of Okram Leikai of Thoubal district and Khumukcham Dhiren (41) of Nambol Phoijing of Bishnupur district.
Based on specific inputs, security personnel along with Manipur Police launched an operation which led to the apprehension of the individual in Singjamei area.
The security personnel also seized a car without registration number which the cadres came in.
They also recovered two INSAS LMGs with eight magazines loaded with 161 bullets, one 9mm pistol loaded with five live rounds, one wireless set, five mobile phones and other items from the car.
Taking to X (Formerly known as Twitter), the official page of Assam Rifle wrote, “#Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police apprehended Two PREPAK(PRO) cadres and seized two 5.56mm INSAS LMG, one 9mm Pistol, ammunition and other stores in general area Singjamei, Imphal East Dist, Manipur.”
Last month also, Manipur police arrested a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK-Pro while he was collecting money from businessmen at the Super Market Lamphel, in Imphal West district.
The arrested cadre has been identified as Shyam Huidrom Singh, alias Johny. A 9mm pistol with one magazine, two mobile handsets, Rs 5,000 in cash (extortion money), some incriminating documents, and one Honda Activa were recovered from his possession.
