67th National School Games: 5-day U17 Yoga competition starts in Agartala

Around 500 participants from sports schools across the country have assembled for this significant event

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today inaugurated the 67th National School Games 2023-24 at NSRCC sports complex in Agartala.

The event marked the commencement of a groundbreaking five-day, under-17 national-level yoga competition, a first for Agartala.

Around 500 participants from sports schools across the country have assembled for this significant event.

Chief Minister Saha, drawing on his past as a regional sports champion during college, underlined the intrinsic connection between yoga and Indian culture, emphasizing its transformative impact on the body, mind, and soul.

Encouraging participants to cultivate self-awareness and contribute positively to society, Saha portrayed yoga as a force that adds value and promotes well-being.

He acknowledged yoga’s ancient heritage and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its widespread global acceptance, citing recent accolades from world leaders during the G20 summit.

This event, organised by the state government’s Youth Affairs and Sports Department was attended by dignitaries including Sports Minister Tinku Roy and Youth Affairs and Sports Department Secretary Dr. P.K. Chakravarty.

The event not only signifies a pioneering step in promoting yoga at the national level but also brings together participants from diverse sports schools, converging in Agartala for this unprecedented under-17 competition.
