The State’s Lakhimpur district is the worst affected with as many as 15 villages reeling under flood waters. Numerous schools, houses and even government offices have been submerged as the Gabhoru river has breached several embankments in Laluk.

Meanwhile, in Gohpur the Satrang River has created havoc with the river waters deluging most parts of the area including National Highway 15. Vehicular movement along the National Highway has been kept on hold by the district authorities.

However, lately public transport buses have been allowed to ply on the Highway that’s been hit by floods. On the other hand, many areas of Udalguri district in Assam are also badly hit by floods.

Areas like Majbat and Orang are the worst affected due to floods. Similarly, flood waters have also created havoc in Assam’s Golaghat district. Many areas of the district including Rongdoi Gaon, Moinapara and Kathkotia completely under water.

Meanwhile, Army has been pressed into service and are carrying out rescue operations in flood hit areas of Sivsagar district. The joint rescue operation carried out by the army and civil administration so far has been able to rescue hundreds of villagers.

The Desang and Dikhow rivers in Eastern Assam continue to flow above the danger mark, causing massive havoc in the low-lying areas. Around 52 villages have been affected so far by the deluge.
