Assam has always been an aggragarian state, with around 70 percent of its population involved in agriculture related activities. However, due to single cropping, the production of rice has always been low. In an effort to enhance the productivity and income of farming community in Dibrugarh district, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Dibrugarh under suitable logistic support of Assam Agricultural University Jorhat, and Agricultural Technology Application and Research Institute, Guwahati ICAR demonstrated a suitable high yielding proven sali rice variety – Numoli – having yield potential of 5 to 5.5 ton per hectare.
