Since the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord over three years ago, the BTR region of Assam has been witnessing rapid development. Well, most importantly, there has been total peace in the region.
To express its greatfulness to the PM Modi-led central government and the Assam government under Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the BTR administration today organised a thanks giving programme at the SAI stadium in Kokrajhar.
People in large numbers thronged the stadium to participate in the event and express their gratitude to the Prime Minister as well as other leaders who have played a key role in the transformation of the Bodo heartland.
BTR Chief Pramod Boro sharing his thoughts on the occasion said, “Everyone has accepted the fact that peace has now prevailed in BTR and it should be permanent. To celebrate this occasion everyone is here and also to thank PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah as well as Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. For that we are organizing this Thanksgiving program. We are celebrating peace today.”
“The last decades have witnessed a lot of bloodshed, other sorts of violence, everyone was apprehensive, but last 3 years have passed peacefully, with no incident of violence being reported anywhere, everyone has been able to find peace and development now.”
On January 27, 2020 a tripartite agreement was signed between the Centre, Assam Government and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) which paved way for permanent peace in the Bodo areas.
