UFO spotted over Manipur air space, airport shut for about 3 hrs

Around 1000 passengers were stranded at the airport as flights, both inbound and outbound were halted. Flight operation resumed at 6pm

Sensation prevailed in Imphal’s Bir Tikendrajit International Airport on Sunday afternoon after the sighting of unidentified flying objects in the sky.

The airspace over the airport was shut from 2:30pm till about 6pm. Flight movement was halted to and from the airport. Airport authorities, police and Air Force were on high alert, sources told Northeast Live.

Around 1000 passengers were stranded at the airport, one flight was diverted to Guwahati, sources said.
The Chief Justice of Manipur High Court was also delayed at Kolkata Airport as there was no clearance for landing at Imphal airport.

The government held meeting with AAI, Commissioner Home, DC Imphal West, SP Imphal West and other concerned authorities.

The Air Traffic Control and Airport Authority of India gave clearance at 5:45 pm after sanitization of air space.

The first flight took off from Imphal at 6:00pm, second flight took off from Imphal at 6:08 pm, the third flight took off from 6:13 pm.

As per inputs, the flights were 80 percent empty as passengers cancelled their flights and rescheduled for tomorrow.
