Heroin worth Rs 11 cr recovered in Guwahati, 2 from Manipur arrested

In a big breakthrough, the Assam Police has busted an interstate drugs smuggling racket and recovered heroin worth Rs 11 crore. The drugs consignment weighing 1.35 kg, packed in 98 soap cases were kept concealed in a secret chamber inside a vehicle, which was coming from Manipur’s Churachandpur district. The vehicle was intercepted at Amingaon in Guwahati.

Two drug peddlers Tomizur Rahman of Wangoi and Abdul Rahim of Lilong in Manipur were apprehended.
The operation was carried out by DIG, STF Partha Sarathi Mahanta, and Addl SP (HQ), Kamrup Kalyan Kumar Pathak.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the Assam Police in a post on X and said, “In a special anti-narcotics operation carried out by @STFAssam, a vehicle coming from a neighbouring State was intercepted in Guwahati and 1.350kg of heroin was seized from it.
Two people have been apprehended in this regard.

In another incident, two women drug peddlers were arrested in Guwahati’s Khanapara area by the Special Task Force (STF). 43 containers of suspected heroin weighing 54.5 grams, cash were recovered from the them.
