It was a narrow escape for the hundreds of passengers on board the Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Express when some firecrackers being carried illegally by a passenger went off inside the train causing a fire. The incident took place when the train was at Bareilly junction in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
The fire broke out in a general coach of the Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Express.

“The blaze broke out in the S2 coach of Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Express. The passenger sitting on seats number 55 and 56 of this coach was carrying firecrackers illegally. The explosive material must have caught fire while he smoked a cigarette,” Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Chandra Mohan Sharma said.
