According to the victim's account, the abuse she went through was severe, involving physical assault

A couple from Tinsukia are facing serious allegations of mistreatment and abuse by a domestic help who had been working at their residence for the past year.

The victim revealed a harrowing tale of her experiences. “They tortured me. They would punch me in the eyes and chest, slammed my head against the wall. There was continuous physical and mental abuse, excessive workload. For the last three months, they have been subjecting me to relentless torture. Before this period, they used to pay me for my services, but then they stopped giving me money,” the victim said.

Although the victim has not lodged a formal complaint with the police, an investigation has been initiated.

“I don’t know who reported the abuse, but when the police arrived for their inquiries, that day the couple attempted to strangle me in the morning. They threatened to kill me and make it look like a suicide,” added the victim.

The All Assam Tea Students’ Association (AATSA) has filed an FIR urging the police to take strict action against the accused couple.
