In a remarkable display of dedication and efficiency, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment by re-establishing vital connectivity in challenging circumstances in Sikkim.
BRO worked tirelessly to restore connectivity to Ritchu village, which was severely damaged by flash floods on October 4.
The flash floods, which struck the state with unprecedented force, left the Ritchu village completely cut off from the outside world, stranding approximately 200 residents and more than 30 vehicles.
The situation was dire, with no access to essential supplies, medical aid, or communication.
In a swift and coordinated response, BRO worked tirelessly to clear and rebuild the damaged roads, culverts, and bridges.
The efforts were pivotal in ensuring the safe rescue of the stranded individuals, as well as the recovery of more than 30 vehicles.
A glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) occurred at the Lhonak Lake in the Chungthang area of North Sikkim and caused a flash flood in the Teesta river basin on October 4.
The death toll in the flood stands at 57, while over 78 people including army personnel, are still missing.
