The two arrested have been identified as Little Sarkar and Ranjit Namo. It is unclear, if the two apprehended persons belong to any political party or group.
Sensation had gripped Tripura after the statue of Baidyanath Majumdar was vandalized on Friday in the state’s Kailashahar town in the Unakoti district. Talking to the media, SDPO Rajib Sengupta gave out details of the two arrested persons.
Meanwhile, Tripura’s opposition Communist Party of India-Marxist took out a rally in the state capital Agartala to protest against the case of statue vandalisation.

The vandalisation of the statue of former deputy chief minister and CPI-M leader Baidyanath Majumdar evoked sharp criticism from various quarters.
Earlier, several statues of leftist leaders in the state were targeted by miscreants in different parts of the state in the recent past.
