There is widespread anger among the students of Assam University in Silchar after a female student levelled allegations of sexual harassment against a professor of the university.
The female student has accused professor Sudipta Sarkar of making sexual advances in lieu of passing her in examinations. The issue has flared up into a major controversy with students staging protests and demanding action against Sarkar.
The students have also alleged Vice Chancellor Dilip Chandra Nath of sporting a biased attitude in the case. Meanwhile, the female student has submitted a memorandum to the Cachar deputy commissioner and the Superintendent of Police seeking justice.
