Ace pugilist Lovlina Borgohain accorded warm welcome at Guwahati LGBI airport

Ace Pugilist and Assam’s pride Lovlina Borgohain was accorded a warm welcome today at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati by her fans, family, and well-wishers as she returned home after winning a silver medal for India at the recently concluded Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China.
Speaking to the media, the boxer expressed her happiness at winning a medal for India.
“As it was my first Asian Games and I had qualifications, it was very important for me. As I could succeed, I feel really good,” Lovlina said.
The boxer shared that since she played in the 75 kg category at the World Boxing Championships and Asian Championships, it has become her comfort zone.
She thanked the Assam government and the boxing association for providing all possible help to her.
Lovlina, the reigning world champion and Olympic medalist, lost to Li Qian of China in the final of the women’s 75kg category.
Lovlina Borgohain had faced Li Qian earlier this year in the World Championship semi-finals, where she emerged victorious by a 4:1 split decision.
With her silver at the Asian Games, Lovlina has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and she is eyeing a medal at the Paris Olympics.
