The Indian Women's Kabaddi team did it in style by clinching Gold and helping India achieve the milestone

It is indeed an awesome occasion for the entire nation as Indian athletes proved their mettle and powered India to cross the 100 medal mark at the ongoing Asian Games. A feat achieved by India for the first time ever in Asian Games. It is the women’s Kabaddi team’s gold defeating Chinese Taipei that helped India to achieve the milestone.

A spirit of joy and splendid achievement filled the minds of the billions of Indians after the achievement by the athletes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in congratulating the entire contingent on the momentous occasion.

Starting the day at 95, India got their assured five medals — four in archery and one in kabaddi — to officially reach the century. India beat their previous best of 70 medals at the last edition in Jakarta in 2018 by a huge margin.

This is only the second time India has won over 100 medals in any of the three international games — The Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.

India won 101 medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
