In the wake of the devastating Glacial Lake Outburst flood in Sikkim, the Himalayan state is bracing yet again for another GLOF. Mangan SP, Sonam Dechu issued an emergency alert late last evening, upon receiving warning that a second GLOF was on the verge of occurring near Thangu beyond Lachen in Mangan district. Shako Chu, the glacial lake in question, was reportedly flagged as being in more precarious situation by experts who visited South Lhonak Chu and Shako Chu in September earlier this year.
