In a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, the Meghalaya Police seized a large consignment of drugs with a market value of Rs 9 crore, and arrested 3 drug traffickers.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma lauded the Ri Bhoi police team for orchestrating a well executed, intelligence-driven operation that led to the recovery of the drugs.
CM Sangma said that the State Police’s relentless fight against the drug scourge will continue unabatted and the government is fully committed to make Meghalaya drug free.
Taking to X, CM Sangma wrote, “A significant drug bust! Kudos to @ribhoipolice for orchestrating a well executed, intelligence-driven operation that led to the recovery of a huge cache of Heroin worth ₹9 Crores! 3 notorious interstate drug traffickers are apprehended. Keep it up @lrbishnoiips and team! Our relentless fight against the drug scourge will continue unabated and we are fully committed for.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Meghalaya Police seized 44,900 bottles of banned spurious Phyensedyl cough syrup from a truck in East Jaintia Hills district. The market value of the spurious Phyensedyl cough syrup was Rs. 50 lakh.
