Big Durga Puja bonanza for tea workers of Assam. The state government on Monday announced a hike in their daily wages by Rs 18 with effect from October 1, a bonus of 20% and reservation in jobs. Now the daily wage of the tea workers in Brahmaputra Valley would be Rs 250 a day, up from Rs 232. In Barak Valley it would be Rs 228 a day, up from Rs 210.
