Residents of Assam, get ready to pay more for your electricity bill starting today. The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has decided to hike per unit price of electricity by Rs 1.29 per unit, starting today.

APDCL has issued a notice to its consumers, stating the revised Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPPA) rates.

As per the APDCL notice, for consumption up to 300 units, the increase will be 30 paise per unit.

The electricity usage between 301 and 500 units will result in a hike of 50-paise hike per unit, while consumption exceeding 500 units will incur a substantial increase of Rs 1.29 per unit.

Rate adjustments will also be applied to the commercial and industrial sectors, marking a significant cost escalation.

“For smart pre-paid consumers, the applicable FPPPA charges for energy consumed during September 2023 will be spread out in 92 equal daily instalments from October 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023”, official statement added.

In contrast, conventional prepaid consumers will have the FPPPA applied on a prospective basis.

APDCL has assured consumers that any adjustments related to shortfalls or excess recoveries due to seasonal variations in consumption within the stipulated period will be corrected in subsequent periods or as directed by the competent authority.
