Pradyot Kishore Debbarma said the shutdown must convey a strong message to Centre regarding a Constitutional Solution
TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has made a fervent appeal to the people in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) areas to fully back the dawn to dusk bandh called by the TIPRA Motha tomorrow.
In a video message, Pradyot said that the bandh called tomorrow must send a big message to Centre expressing that the indigenous people of Tripura will continue its fight until there is a constitutional solution to their demands.
He said, “There will be a bandh tomorrow in the TTAADC areas from 6 AM to 6 PM. Till today the Centre has been talking to the TIPRA Motha, IPFT, a few tribal leaders. But I want that the Tiprasa community in one voice send a message to Delhi saying that the demand for a Constitutional Solution must be fulfilled. Delhi must understand that this is not the saying of any particular political leader. The whole Tiprasa community is saying that the indigenous have been rendered landless in their own land in the last 76 years, the political, land, economic and legislative rights have been snatched away. People need to say that the Centre give a constitutional solution after thinking logically about the matter.”
Pradyot added, “the Centre has to also understand that the whole Tiprasa community is sending a message. This is a fight for survival and existence, for a better future. For a better, it is important that we unite.”
Besides, the Tripura Royal also urged people not to choose violence while pursuing for their cause. Pradyot said, “Nothing can be achieved if we fear, but it does not mean that we will go for violence. Those who are engaged in essential services must be allowed to go because violence cannot be the message. There should be no violence, no community must be targetted, no innocent must be targetted. But what we have to do is to stand united and show our strength.’
On September 23, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma had said, ““Irked by the delay in fulfilling its demand for ‘Greater Tipraland’, Tipra Motha has called for a day-long Tripura bandh in order to press the Centre for its demand.”
