Situation still remains to be tense in many parts of Assam following a 24 hour shutdown called by the All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Students Union in demand for a separate Kamtapur state.

Several stray incidents were reported from various parts of the state as bandh supporters tried to enforce the bandh.

Vehement protests were also staged in Bongaigaon, Tamulpur, Goreswar, Darrang, Kalaigaon by the AAKRSU activists who are also demanding ST status for the Koch Rajbongshis.
