As the political parties in Meghalaya roll their dice for the Ranikor bypoll slimming the chances of the National People’s Party for an easy victory, the NPP is however confident of winning both the Ranikor and South Tura seats.

NPP state president, WR Kharlukhi expressing confidence has said that for the party every election is a tightly contested event but when the results are out it’s a different ball game.

The fight for the Ranikor Assembly seat has turned crucial for the National People’s Party, the ruling ally in the coalition government with most of its partners deciding to join the by-poll race.

NPP does not have any coalition partners on board for its Ranikor candidate, said former Congress MLA Martin M Danggo.

Meanwhile, the State Congress is gearing up to put a tough fight in South Tura by-poll which is a must win for the NPP candidate Conrad Sangma to continue as the Chief Minister of the state.

Congress leader and MLA from Mawryngkneng, David Nongrum asserted that the Congress will give a tough fight to Conrad Sangma and if they continue to work hard, the party would be able to sail through in the elections.
