After more than two weeks, the Karimganj Police has finally cracked the case of the alleged rape and murder of a minor in Karimganj, Assam, and arrested three persons in connection with the case.

The three persons have been identified as Biplab Paul (25), Shubro Malakar (27), and Rahul Das (27).
Karimganj SP, Partha Protim Das, briefing media today said, “During the course of the investigation process, we have found a mobile number in the notebook of the deceased person. Accordingly, we arrested three suspected persons, namely Biplab Paul, Shubro Malakar, and Rahul Das.”

The SP revealed that Rahul Das, who is a fourth-grade employee of the railways, a trackman, was the mastermind of the whole case.

“Rahul Das had taken two mobile SIM cards from Shubhra Malakar, which were being used by him as well as the victim girl. They have been in constant touch with each other for the last one month,” the SP added.

The SP further said that Rahul Das had tried to develop a physical relationship with the deceased girl, but he failed, as the girl denied, as revealed by the culprit.

Then on September 9, all three accused entered the victim’s room, took advantage of the darkness, and strangulated the girl. They also forced themselves on the girl and left the place.

The girl’s body was recovered naked on September 10 by her family. She was a class 8 student.
Locals revealed that blood stains were spotted on the deceased’s private parts. The locals suspected that the girl was first raped and then murdered.

The body of the deceased was then sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem.

Accordingly, a case was registered under Section 376A of the IPC read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
