Meghalaya makes strides in Jal Jeevan Mission with 58.86 percent completion rate

The state of Meghalaya has made strides in Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) implementation, with a completion rate of 58.86 percent.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress of the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state, Public Health Engineering Minister Marcuise N. Marak said that with the successful completion of 4 lakh water tap connections, the percentage will reach 60 percent.

Admitting that in some of the villages, the department is facing issues with the drying of the source of the water, he said the Center has given a deadline for the completion of the project by January 2024.

Under the JJM project, the total number of households stands at 6,51,566.

According to the JJM Dashboard, East Garo Hills district is the best performing district in terms of JJM coverage with 78.812%, while the worst performing district is East Jaintia Hills with 43.94%.

The South West Garo Hills reported 77.04 percent of JJM implementation. The performance of East Khasi Hills continues to be dismaying, according to the JJM Dash board, and the East Khasi Hills coverage stands at 47.17%.
