Tightening the noose further around corrupt ACS and APS officers, the Special Judge court today sent 19 such corrupt officials to 11 day police custody on charges of securing jobs

Tightening the noose further around corrupt ACS and APS officers, the Special Judge court today sent 19 such corrupt officials to 11 day police custody on charges of securing jobs by paying hefty bribes.

The list of corrupt officials includes daughter of Tezpur Lok Sabha MP RP Sarma. Besides, Dipsikha Phukan and Bhargab phukan who are the son and daughter of a former judge will also be in police custody.

The 19 officials were arrested on Wednesday after they appeared for the handwriting tests at the Special Branch headquarters of the Assam Police.

After examination of the handwriting samples it was found that their answer sheets were replaced by duplicate answer sheets at the behest of the then APSC chairman Rakesh Paul, the kingpin of the massive scam.

The tainted former APSC chairman had supplied answer scripts to rewrite their examination. The APS and ACS officers who were appointed to their posts in 2016 include 13 ACS officers, 3 APS officers, 1 DTO, 1 tax superintendent and 1 tax inspector.
