The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) East Jaintia Hills District Unit staged a sit-in-demonstration on September 25, to protest against the state government and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for allegedly turning a blind eye in addressing the issue. KSU said the decision on the second phase of agitation was taken after the State government and the NHAI allegedly failed to show any sign of seriousness towards the issue. The first phase of agitation was held on August 8.
