Police is investigating the matter whether it is a case of accident or any foul play

Two Assam youths have been found dead in Nagaland’s Mon district. Prima facie it appears to be a case of an accident but there are allegations that both the deceased were murdered by unknown miscreants before robbing them of cash.

Both the deceased-Lalit Naoholia (Driver) and Utpal Tasa (Helper) had gone to Tabu in Mon with a vehicle carrying essentials last Friday. After dropping off the consignment, they headed back to Sonari the same day with cash in their possession.

When last contacted, Lalit Naoholia had informed his family members, that they took dinner in Wokha. But after that family members could not establish any contact with him.

It was only today that bodies of both the youths were recovered from a 100 mtr deep gorge, in a semi-nude state. The vehicle was also found by their side. Though injury marks could be visible in the bodies but as of now it is not clear as to whether it was due to the accident or any foul play.

Family members of Utpal Tasa allege, “Last Friday Utpal and his companion (Lalit) left home for Nagaland. But miscreants murdered them and dumped their bodies. We demand punishment for the perpetrators. We also want to request our Chief Minister to intervene and ensure that those guilty are booked.”

Another local said, “Utpal Tasa and his friend went to Nagaland in a vehicle to supply essentials. They returned from there 3 days back but they were attacked by miscreants and their bodies were dumped. But only today we came to know. We want that our CM takes appropriate step so that the attackers are identified and punished.
As per reports, the Nagaland Police is investigating the matter. Further details awaited.
