Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday announced a significant reduction in road accidents within a one-month period from August 19, 2023, to September 18, 2023, of special drive taken up by Tripura Police.
Statistics reveal a commendable 65% decrease in road accident fatalities, accompanied by a 50% drop in injuries and an overall 50% reduction in reported road accidents.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), CM said, “There has been significant reduction in road accident deaths by around 65%, injuries by 50% and total road accident cases by around 50% within one month of special drive taken up by Tripura Police (19/08/2023 to 18/09/2023) in pursuance of my instruction.”
“This is in comparison to the average monthly such deaths and cases in last three and half years. This is despite an over 20 % increase in vehicles over the same period. This special drive was conducted in mission mode and efforts were made to identify accident ‘black spots’ and organise awareness campaigns in coordination with all related stakeholders, including NHIDCL, PWD, Health, Transport, Social Welfare Departments and District administrations,” he added.
Chief Minister emphasized the continuation of this special drive and called upon the public to wholeheartedly adhere to traffic rules and safety guidelines.
“The special drive will continue and everyone needs to follow the traffic and safety guidelines to help us save lives”, he further added.
