Meghalaya: Police recovers a dead body and drugs worth Rs 2 cr in 2 separate incidents

In two separate incidents, Meghalaya Police busted a major drug racket seizing drugs worth Rs 2 crore and recovered a dead body in the state capital Shillong.
On Wednesday night, a suspicious bag was left abandoned in a SUV by two passengers. After noticing the suspicious bag, the driver of the SUV promptly informed Police.
After receiving information, a Police team from Madanrting Police Station rushed to the spot and after thoroughly checking the bag, recovered 21 soap boxes containing heroin weighing 253.53 grams along with some clothes.
Later, Police registered a case regarding this under section relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
Earlier on Tuesday night, Police recovered a dead body from Laitkor in Shillong.
Police found one person lying in a pool of blood within the compound of a vehicle workshop belonging to one person named Farid Mukhim at Laitkor Mawrie, Lumheh. The deceased had injury marks on his head.
Police recovered one steering wheel a mineral water bottle with half a bottle of liquor were recovered from the spot. Police suspected that he might have been hit by steering wheel.
The deceased person has been identified as William Nongrum (36), a resident of Khanduli.
After observing all legal formalities, the dead body was handed over to the relatives.
Police arrested two people accused of being involved in the killing of the man.
