Government is leaving no stone unturned to make Tripura a narcotics-free state. The Biplab Deb-led state government is mulling to frame new laws to put an end to the drug menace in the state.
As many as 17 packets of marijuana were seized from Hamsafar express on July 17 worth Rs 1.80 lakh rupees. In another such raid by Dharmanagar Police, 158 kg of cannabis were also seized.
Chief Minister Deb alleged that the state’s development was put in the back burner by the former regime as no such measures was taken for crackdown on drug rackets.
He informed that around 500-1000 kg of drugs are being seized everyday during various search operations across the state.
