Assam: Body of half-naked woman found, family allege rape and murder

The victim's husband works as a watchman and he have been on night shifts for the last year

A half-naked body of a woman aged around 25 years was found in Assam’s Morigaon district this morning. The family members of the victim alleged that she might have been raped and then murdered by someone taking advantage of her husband’s absence.

As per inputs, the deceased woman and her one and half month old baby were home alone after her husband left home at 8pm on Monday evening for work. When he returned home from work Tuesday morning, he found his wife was dead lying half-naked on the floor.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information and sent the body for post mortem. Police said that she may have been strangled.

Police said that the victim’s husband said that he works as a watchman and he have been on night shifts for the last year.

Investigation into the matter is underway and more details will be available only after getting the post mortem report, police said.
