Both the MLAs blamed the Opposition for “zero development” in Boxanagar and Dhanpur

Newly elected Tripura MLAs Tafajjal Hossain and Bindu Debnath took oath as members of the Tripura Legislative Assembly today. Tripura Speaker Biswabandhu Sen administered the oath of office to both the MLAs in presence of Chief Minister Manik Saha.
Soon after the swearing in ceremony both the MLAs reiterated that they will work for the welfare and progress of the people.
Speaking to Northeast Live, Boxanagar MLA Tafajjal Hossain slammed the Opposition for failing to cater to the people’s needs and aspirations. He said, “With the blessing of the voters of Boxanagar I have come here, I want to express my gratitude to them at the beginning. For me development is priority. But there has been zero development in Boxanagar since it was under the Opposition for 25 years. I will work for developing roads, ensuring water supply, electricity which is in poor condition because of the previous Opposition regime. I will merge Boxanagar with the rest of the state which is undergoing massive transformation under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha.”
Dhanpur MLA Bindu Debnath also launched a scathing attack on the Opposition and blamed it for poor development in the constituency. Debnath stated, “Since my constituency has many bordering areas and a sizeable tribal population. But there was no progress because of the Communist rule. We will take everybody on board in terms of education, development and every other aspect on the Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat agenda. Roads are bad. Roads need a lot of maintenance. In the education space, there is a scarcity of teachers. Will fill that up. These are some of my priorities including doing proper fencing along the borders.”
BJP had recorded a thumping victory in the by-elections for the Boxanagar and Dhanpur seats by defeating the Left candidates by huge margins. The results were announced on September 8.
Taffajal Hussain who contested for the BJP in the Boxanagar seat defeated Mizan Hossein, of the CPI(M) by a margin of 30, 327 votes. In Dhanpur, the Saffron party sealed victory as Bindu Debnath defeated Left candidate Koushik Chanda by over 18, 871 votes.
