Assam: 4 injured in lightning strike in Barpeta

Following the incident, the injured were rushed to the Barpeta Medical college for immediate medical attention.

In a tragic turn of events, at least four teenagers were injured in lightning strikes in Assam’s Barpeta district on Monday night.

The incident took place at Barpeta Road in the Katajhar area.

As per inputs, the four teenagers were attending a function when lightning struck them.

The injured have been identified as Jagannath Das, Supriya Sarkar, Rupali Das, and Sagar Guha.

Following the incident, the injured were rushed to the Barpeta Medical college for immediate medical attention.

On Thursday night last week, a 20-year-old youth lost his life due to a lightning strike while he was asleep in his home located in Chirang district. The unfortunate incident occurred in the Ankorbari area, which had experienced significant rainfall earlier in the day.

The victim’s lifeless body was discovered by his family members on Friday morning.
