A total of five RCC houses that were demolished in the eviction drive will receive Rs 10 lakhs each

In some relief for the evicted families, the Kamrup Metro District Disaster Management Authority Chairman and District Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha has announced a sum of Rs 75 lakh as one-time assistance to the families evicted in Silsako, Guwahati.

A total of five RCC houses that were demolished in the eviction drive will receive Rs 10 lakh each, and Rs 5 lakh will be provided as compensation to each of the five Assam-type houses destroyed during the eviction drive.

The assistance amount will be provided in the first phase from the funds of the Kamrup Metropolitan District Disaster Management Authority, as promised by the state government.

A tense situation prevailed at Silsako earlier this week after a group of women carried out semi-naked protests on the banks of Silsako Bill in Guwahati against the state government’s massive eviction drive.
Police have arrested nine people, including women, who were protesting.

The state government has assured to settle the affected people in Guwahati itself. These people will be given residential flats by the government.
