Guwahati Airport handles nearly 4.8 Lakhs passengers in August 2023

Going ahead, Guwahati Airport is optimistic of maintaining this positive passenger growth during the upcoming winter schedule, commencing in October.

International Airport, a crucial gateway to Northeast India with connections to twenty-four domestic and two international destinations, has experienced a significant uptick in passenger numbers.

Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, recorded a footfall of nearly 4.8 lakhs passengers in August 2023, witnessing a sharp increase from the corresponding month of last year.

The top four domestic destinations from Guwahati Airport include Imphal, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore, while the two international destinations are Singapore and Paro, a statement issued by Guwahati International Airport Ltd (GIAL) said.

In August 2023, the airport witnessed a total of 3,839 flight movements, a 14% rise compared to August 2022. This remarkable growth can be attributed to a passenger-centric approach adopted by the airport authorities.

Going ahead, Guwahati Airport is optimistic about maintaining this positive passenger growth during the upcoming winter schedule, commencing in October. It is expected that passenger numbers will further rise during the winter season, underscoring the airport’s anticipation of robust growth in the months ahead.
