Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma termed it as a momentous occasion for the entire state

It was another milestone in the health sector of Assam, as academic sessions in the 3 newly inaugurated medical colleges in Nalbari, Nagaon and Kokrajhar districts started today. The 3 medical colleges were dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14 this year.

Each of the medical colleges have a capacity for 100 students.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was the Chief Guest of the induction programme at the Nagaon Medical College and Hospital today.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sarma said, “This is a day of great joy for the people of Assam since academic sessions have begun together in 3 medical colleges. Within the last decade in the state we could manage to set up 5 MCHs and in this decade 4 MCHs. Today we have set off with 3 MCHs. In today’s date this is an incredible journey with 12 medical colleges. I congratulate everyone and especially the people of Nagaon, Nalbari and Kokrajhar on this momentous occasion.”

The Assam Chief Minister also said that people can obviously opt for the Government run Medical College and Hospitals in different districts instead of visiting private hospitals. He said that the best of infrastructures are available in the Medical Colleges and Hospitals.

CM Sarma in this context stated, “Every state of the art infrastructure is available in the Medical Colleges, so we must make people understand that they should not go to private hospitals, since people have to shell out more money. There must be an awareness on this. The number of patients in the govt hospitals are now increasing.
