The two day long plenary meet of the North Eastern Council concluded today in Shillong. Chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh held talks on various issues related to the Northeastern region.

Singh on Monday said that there has been a substantial improvement in the security scenario in the Northeast in the last four years. Singh also added that the Northeastern region has potential to become a developed part of the country given its resources and manpower.

DoNER minister Jitendra Singh stated that several issues were taken up during the meet which would be beneficial for the region as a whole. Singh said that issues related to security have been of great concern and they have been discussed at lengths.

The DoNER minister also added that there has been a substantial increase in the funding of cultural projects in the region. The two-day NEC meet was attended by all the governors and chief ministers of Northeast barring Sikkim CM Pawan Chamling.
