Assam Madrasa student murder update: Imam arrested for slitting throat of 12-year-old student

Police have cracked the case of the sensational murder of a 12-year-old Madrasa student in Cachar within 24 hours of the tragic incident.

The Cachar Police said on Monday that Hafiz Mousin Rehman Khan (24), who is an Imam and also teacher in the madrasa had killed the student to take revenge.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that a few days before the murder, the deceased was beaten up by the Imam for running away from the Madrasa. When the matter came to light, the Imam had to issue a public apology for beating up the child.

To avenge the public embarrassment, the Imam killed the child by slitting his throat. The Imam is a resident of Kalain village in Cachar.

The body of the child was found by a teacher yesterday lying in a pool of blood inside the Madrasa hostel.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, said Cachar SP Numal Mahatta.
