Man beaten to death over suspicion of cattle theft in Assam’s Hojai

Police launched an investigation into the matter and so far arrested 6 people in connection with the case

A man in Assam’s Hojai district was beaten to death by a mob over suspicion of cattle theft.

The deceased man has been identified as- Hizbur Rahman.

The incident took place at Bamun Gaon village in Lanka, Hojai on late Saturday night

The victim, Hizbur Rahman, was thrashed by the mob after he was caught stealing cattle from a cattle shed in the area.

On receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the spot and sent the seriously injured Rahman to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

Police launched an investigation into the matter and so far arrested 6 people in connection with the case.

The arrested people have been identified as–Sanjay Das, Nikhil Das, Tulendra Das, Uttam Chakraborty, Jayanta Chakraborty and Sanju Mazumdar.

Further investigation is underway.
