Addressing a press conference, Gangtok SP Tenzing Loden Lepcha also urged the citizens to invest in decently priced digital lockers for safety.
“The installation of CCTV cameras can help the police catch those thieves,” the SP added.
SP Lepcha informed that around 29 different cases of theft have been registered until the end of July in Ranipool police station, Gangtok police station, and Singtam police station from all the districts.
He added that out of the 29 cases, 12 have been solved until now, and six people have been arrested.
The SP shared that these thefts included cash, ornaments, and other goods worth Rs 1 crore. He further informed me that they are working on such unsolved cases.
He also informed that a lot of such cases are coming up in the rural areas of Singtam and monasteries all over Sikkim.
