Manipur: Contractor kidnapped by armed miscreants in Kangpokpi, rescued by Indian Army later

No respite for the people of Manipur as violence continue to rock the state even after over three months now. In a recent incident of violence, a contractor has been allegedly kidnapped by armed miscreants in Kangpokpi district.

The contractor has been identified as Nongthongbam Thoiba. He was working on a construction project for the Indian Army at Leimakhong Premnagar Ex- Servicemen colony in Kangpokpi.

On thursday evening, August 10, Nongthongbam Thoiba went to deliver cement and sand to the construction site. However on his way, some masked miscreants abducted him and took him towards the hills.

His co-workers informed the Indian Army personnel posted at Leimakhong about his kidnapping, following which the security forces swiftly rescued Thoiba from the Kidnappers and handed him over to the Sekmai Police Station.
