Drug bust in Tripura: Heroin worth Rs 9 lakh seized, one arrested

In a significant stride towards achieving a Nasha Mukt Tripura (Drug-Free Tripura), the efforts of team Ambassa have once again borne fruit.
Acting on specific input the law enforcement unit conducted a targeted raid near the Upanagar Naka area, leading to the apprehension of a suspect and the confiscation of a substantial quantity of suspected heroin.
The arrested individual has been identified as Shak Alam Miah, a 48-year-old resident of Chakmaghat in the Teliamura Police Station jurisdiction.
The apprehension took place under the command of team Ambassa, which acted swiftly upon receiving credible intelligence.
During the operation, a search led to the discovery of eight plastic cases, each containing a substance suspected to be heroin. Upon further examination, the combined weight of the seized material was found to be approximately 88.00 grams. With an estimated market value of around 9 lakhs, this haul represents a significant blow to the illegal drug trade within the region.
A case has been registered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
