Not all heroes wear a cap. Meet this teacher from Assam who has set an example with his kind gesture by giving shelter to over 80 homeless dogs who were abandoned in the middle of Kobo Chapori in Jonai, Assam.
Every morning, every afternoon and every night, happy waging tails, licks, and barks saying thank you greets
Tusheshwar Miri Agarwal who rescued the 82 dogs and has been serving food and taking care of these cute pooches for almost a month now.
The dogs obviously have developed a special bond with Tusheshwar.
The dogs were left in the middle of Kobo Chapori by families evicted by the forest department a month ago.
Kobo Chapori, a small island in the middle of the river Brahmaputra in upper Assam, experiences flooding every year, leaving hundreds of families and livelihoods homeless.
Kind-hearted animal lover Tusheshwar came to the rescue of the abandoned dogs.
The dogs now camped near the 3rd mile in the PWD office are provided rice, dal, biscuits, etc. The dogs have been taking shelter there since June 29.
Tusheshwar Miri Agarwal, along with his colleague Vijit Bora, and the Jonai sub-divisional administration, as well as various groups, NGOs, nature lovers, etc., are looking after the dogs.
“When they coming running towards you, waging their tails all happy and excited. When they lick you, kisses you and jumps on you out of love, happiness and gratitude, it is a feeling no words can explain,” Bora said.
He said it is sheer love for the dogs that he and Tusheshwar are taking care of so many of them despite all the challenges including financial and medical.
Tusheshwar has also been providing treatment to the dogs with his own pocket money.
However, Tusheshwar has now appealed to the administration and the public to provide support for the rearing and treatment of the dogs until the orphaned dogs return to their healthy state and are not permanently settled.
