Mizoram Church donated over Rs 94 lakh to help displaced people of Manipur

The Presbyterian Church of India, Mizoram Synod, has disbursed over Rs. 94 lakh as humanitarian assistance to Internally Displaced People (IDPs) of Manipur, both in Manipur and Mizoram, church sources said.
The Mizoram Synod had donated Rs 65 lakh to Tangphai (Vaiphei) Presbytery for rebuilding 100 houses torched or destroyed in the Manipur violence which started from May 3 and is continuing till date.
Though Manipur has a separate Synod called Manipur Synod, Tangphai (Vaiphei) Presbytery is under the Mizoram Synod.
Mizoram Synod also donated Rs 2 lakh for IDPs in Tangphai area who are not lodged in relief camps, as humanitarian aid for purchase of food.
Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), the conglomerate of Kuki-Zo tribal community organisations, was also given Rs. 5 lakh to be utilised in accordance with the requirements of the forum.
The Church had also donated Rs 22 lakh for the IDPs taking shelter in different parts of Mizoram.
